How to spot low stock and track what you pay in WalnutPOS

By Tahseen Dar, founderPublished 2:39 video

The short answer

Items at or below their reorder point say Low Stock, or Out of Stock, on your stock page, and Reports, Inventory, Low Stock lists them all with a suggested amount to order. Price Tracking on the stock page charts the price you paid per unit from every purchase you've logged, so you can see whether you're paying more than you used to.

The £0 plan holds 100 stock items. WalnutPOS tells you when you reach it, and nothing is deleted. Advanced removes the limit. See every limit

Step by step

Everything said in the video, chapter by chapter. Each time opens the video at that moment on YouTube.

0:00By the end of this video you'll know which of your stock is running low, how much to reorder, and whether you're paying more for it than you used to.

Spot low stock

0:15Go to Stock. At the top, Reorder Required tells you how many items need topping up. An item is low when its stock is at or below its reorder point, shown under the quantity. We've one sack of flour left, and its reorder point is four.

0:34So its status says Low Stock. The eggs are down to zero, so they say Out of Stock. And there's a link straight to logging a purchase, for when the delivery arrives.

The Low Stock report

0:53Go to Reports, then Inventory, then Low Stock. You see how many items are low, how many are critical, how many have run out, and roughly what it'll cost to reorder. Each item gets a severity. Critical means you've run out. High, Medium and Low show how far under the reorder point you are. Flour, at one of four, is High.

1:20You also get a suggested amount to order, eight sacks here, and how many days it'll last, based on what you've used in the last thirty days.

Track what you pay

1:33Back on the stock page, open Price Tracking. It charts the price you paid per unit, from every purchase you've logged. It starts with the last three months. Pick another range up here if you need one. Your most-bought items are listed here. Tap one to chart it on its own. We'll pick the flour.

1:50Up top, you get the average, lowest and highest price you've paid, and how many purchases that's based on. Each point on the chart is a purchase. Flour's gone from thirteen pounds twenty a sack to seventeen forty, so it might be time to shop around. And all of this works on the Free plan.

Recap

2:09To recap. Low items say Low Stock or Out of Stock on your stock page. Reports, Inventory, Low Stock lists them all, with what to order. And Price Tracking shows what you've been paying.
