A note from the founder

You'd be talking to the person who builds it

I build Walnut myself, from Beeston. If your restaurant is in Nottingham and you're one of the first 20 to book before 31 October 2026, I'll come in, put it on your till and your kitchen screen, and train your staff — free. If it isn't working for you after that, you've lost an afternoon, not a contract.

The visit

How the visit works

  1. Message us

A short WhatsApp chat about your restaurant and a day that suits you outside service.

  2. Send a photo of your menu

We load your categories, items and prices before we arrive.

  3. Set up together

Till, kitchen screen, printer and staff logins, then a practice order with your team. One afternoon, about two hours.

  4. Support on WhatsApp

The same number you booked on, answered during service hours.

Before we come

What to have ready

  • Any tablet or laptop for the till
  • A spare tablet or old monitor for the kitchen screen
  • For printing: a Windows or Mac computer that stays on at the counter, and your Epson or Star network printer
  • Your card machine stays as it is

Our stage

Where we are, honestly

We're early: 6,700+ orders in daily service at our first restaurant since January 2026. You'd be one of our first Nottingham restaurants, and you'd be talking to the people who build it.

  • The till keeps taking orders when the wifi drops
  • 0% commission on your own online orders
  • Online card payment isn't live yet

Questions

The questions every Nottingham owner asks first

Anything else, ask on WhatsApp: 07453 654669.

Does it replace my Just Eat / Deliveroo / Uber Eats tablet?

No. Walnut runs your counter, phone orders and your own ordering page; marketplace orders stay on their tablet. Owners use the ordering page to move their regulars off commission.

What about my card machine?

It stays exactly as it is. Staff key the amount into it as they do now and Walnut records the sale, so your end-of-day matches. No new hardware, nothing to buy.

I'm still under contract with my current till.

Set Walnut up now on the free plan so your staff learn it, and switch the day your contract ends. Your old till keeps running until you're ready.

What about VAT?

Walnut applies one VAT rate across the till (20% inclusive is the usual setting). If you sell zero-rated cold takeaway food, keep your existing apportionment and use Walnut's end-of-day as gross sales.

Who do I ring on a Friday night?

Us, on WhatsApp, the same number you booked on, during service hours. Your data is yours: ask for an export at any time and you'll have it within 30 days.
