The short answer
In Discounts, tap Create Discount and give it a code, a type and a value, then add a minimum spend or a use limit if you need one. Untick Active to turn a code off when the offer ends, and at the till, staff type the code into the promo code box when they take payment.

Everything said in the video, chapter by chapter. Each time opens the video at that moment on YouTube.
0:00In this video you'll create promo codes, set limits on them, and turn one off when the offer ends.
Create a promo code
0:12In the back office, open Discounts, and tap Create Discount. Give it a code your customers will remember. We'll use welcome ten. Walnut puts it in capitals for you. Leave the type on Percentage, and enter ten, for ten percent off.
0:35It starts today and runs for thirty days. Change the dates if you need to. Leave the limits blank for no maximum uses and no minimum spend. Active means staff can use it straight away. Tap Create. Here it is, with its value, its dates, and how many times it's been used.
Money off, with a minimum
0:59Now a code for money off. Create another one, called save five. Choose Fixed Amount, and enter five, for five pounds off. Set a minimum order of thirty pounds, so it only works on bigger orders. And limit it to the first hundred uses.
1:20Tap Create. The till checks the dates, the minimum spend, and the limit before it takes anything off.
Turn a code off
1:31When an offer ends, turn it off. Tap Edit on save five. Untick Active, and tap Update. It's now inactive, so staff can't use it. It stays in your list, so you can turn it back on later. Use the filters to see just your active codes.
Using a code
1:59At the till, staff type the code into the promo code box when they take payment. They'll need the discount permission to do it. Your first code also ticks Create a promotion on your setup checklist.
Recap
2:13To recap. In Discounts, tap Create Discount, and give it a code, a type and a value. Add a minimum spend or a use limit if you need one. And untick Active to turn it off.
