How to save, reopen, merge and split tickets in WalnutPOS

By Tahseen Dar, founderPublished 2:46 video

The short answer

Tap Save to keep an order as an open ticket on a table or under a custom name, and reopen it from Open Tickets to add to it. Merge puts tickets together on one bill, and Split moves items onto a new ticket that's paid on its own.

Step by step

Everything said in the video, chapter by chapter. Each time opens the video at that moment on YouTube.

0:00By the end of this video, you'll be able to save tickets, reopen them, merge two into one, and split one into two.

Save a table and a bar tab

0:18On Dine In, pick the table. Here it's table three. Then add their order. Tap Save. The order is kept as an open ticket, and the till clears for the next customer. At the bar there's no table. When you tap Save, Walnut asks where the ticket goes.

0:42Tap Custom Ticket, and give it a name you'll recognise, like the customer's name. Tap Save Ticket. The tab is saved too.

Reopen a ticket and add to it

0:58With the till empty, the button says Open Tickets. It lists every ticket that hasn't been paid. Tap Olivia's tab to load it. She orders another Mai Tai. Add it as normal. Tap Save again, and the tab is updated.

Merge two tickets

1:17Olivia joins her friends at table three, and they want one bill. Open her tab. Tap Merge. You'll see the other open tickets. Tick table three's ticket. The combined total shows at the bottom. Tap Merge. Everything is now on one ticket, which keeps the name and table of the ticket you ticked.

1:37In Open Tickets, the bar tab has gone, and table three has the whole order.

Split a ticket

1:46Now table three want the drinks on a separate bill. Open their ticket. Tap Split. This makes two separate tickets, not two payments on one. Every item starts on this ticket, ticket one. Tap plus on the items that move to the new ticket. Here, the food stays, and the drinks move.

2:05Tap Split Ticket. Now there are two tickets. The food stays on table three. The drinks are on a new ticket with no table yet, and each one is paid on its own.

Recap

2:19To recap. Save a ticket on a table, or give it a custom name. Reopen it from Open Tickets. Merge puts tickets together, and Split moves items onto a new ticket. Thanks for watching.
