Step by step
Everything said in the video, chapter by chapter. Each time opens the video at that moment on YouTube.
0:00In a few minutes, you'll add a new dish to your menu. Give it a price and a photo, and ring it up on your till.
Name, type and price
0:16In the back office, open the menu and tap Menu Item. This is your whole menu: every dish, with its photo, category and price. There's no limit, even on the Free plan. Tap New Menu Item. Type its name. We're adding a roast beef dinner.
0:37Type tells Walnut how to track its stock. Composite is for dishes you cook from ingredients, so it's picked for you. Give it a recipe later, and each sale takes them out of stock. Simple is for things you buy in and sell as they are, like a bottle of beer.
0:53And Combo is for meal deals. They're in the next video. Enter the selling price: sixteen pounds fifty. Then pick a category. New items start on No Category, so choose the right one: Sunday Roasts. Add a short description if you like. Guests see it on your online menu.
A photo, and how it sells
1:19Tap Upload from device and pick a photo. A JPEG, PNG or WebP up to two megabytes works, and Walnut resizes it for you. There it is. Your staff see this photo on the till, and your guests see it online. Active means it's on sale. Inactive items stay off your till.
1:43Public Page puts it on your online ordering menu. Leave it on Visible. Most dishes sell Per Item. By Weight is for food you price by the kilo.
Save it, and sell it
1:59Tap Create Menu Item. It's saved, and you're straight back on your menu. Your total goes up by one, and the new dish sits at the top, with its photo and price. Now open the till and tap Sunday Roasts. There's your roast beef dinner, with its photo and price.
2:23Tap it, and it's on the ticket at sixteen pounds fifty, ready to sell. And because it's visible, guests can order it online too, with its photo and description. Keep going until you have at least five items. That ticks Add your first five items on your setup checklist.
Recap
2:40To recap. Tap New Menu Item. Give it a name, a type, a price and a category. Add a photo, save it, and it's on your till and your online menu. Thanks for watching. In the next video, learn to add sizes, add-ons and meal deals. Start free at walnutpos.com.
